Adjudication Leadworker

Eligibility

This is an opportunity open to current DWD employees eligible for transfer, reinstatement, or demotion to pay schedule and range 12-63. Employees who are on probation and interested in being considered may also apply. Employees in Project and Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not eligible to apply through internal transfer opportunities.

Transfer is defined as "the permanent appointment of an employee to a different position assigned to a class having the same or counterpart pay rate or pay range to which the employee's current position is assigned. The employee must be qualified to perform the work after customary orientation provided for newly hired workers in such positions."

Salary Information

Pay will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan at the time of appointment. This position is in schedule-range 12-63.

Remote Work Options

Candidates selected for these positions may request to work remotely for the majority of their work schedule, with the occasional requirement to report in person to their headquarter office in Menomonee Falls, sometimes on short notice. Employees with approved remote and hybrid-remote work arrangements are generally expected to work within the state of Wisconsin. Remote work options are subject to change.

Job Duties

**Unemployment Insurance (UI) is filling two Adjudication Leadworker vacancies headquartered in Menomonee Falls**

As the Leadworker over a group of professional adjudication staff this position is responsible for:

  • Providing technical assistance to staff
  • Assisting management with coordination of call center adjudication activities
  • Training adjudication staff in performing adjudication processes
  • Assisting management in the development and implementation of performance enhancement plans for adjudicators
  • Providing UI program information to customers
  • Investigating benefit eligibility issues

Qualifications

It is very important that you specify your experience for the qualifications that are marked with asterisks (*) in your letter and resume as these qualifications will be evaluated in the first step of the selection process. Additional qualifications may be evaluated in subsequent steps.

You need to have the following experience:

  • *Experience performing as a senior adjudicator or performing similar job responsibilities that involved resolving complex and specialized UI eligibility issues, i.e., working with topics such as educational employer, employment status, excluded employment, family corporations, self-employment, deductible income, commission sales, back pay, sick pay, illegal alien, identity issues, qualifying conditions.
  • Managing time to complete multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Explaining technical/program information verbally and in writing to non-experts from a variety of backgrounds.

Any of the following experience would be nice to have:

  • *Experience providing technical assistance or program information related to the more complex UI benefit issues and Wisconsin’s UI law, policies, and procedures to staff, senior leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • *Experience coaching or mentoring or training others.
  • Collaborating with team members to accomplish a goal (e.g., developing training, participating in a work group, working on a continuous improvement initiative or something similar).
