Advanced Metal Fabrication

Develop higher-level skills involving the intricate preparation of a part for cutting, fabrication and welding, and producing parts using new techniques and a variety of materials. You will gain advanced skills in operating computer-controlled press brakes and shears, punch, and plasma/laser arc cutting machines. Metal fabricators generally work in manufacturing industries. They may be classified in different roles, including sheet metal workers and ironworkers, and may be trained as apprentices.You can earn the Welding technical diploma on the way to completing this technical diploma. For those who have basic manufacturing skills in the areas of welding and metal fabrication, have knowledge of metallurgy, possess solid math skills, and enjoy working on intricate and detailed projects, this advanced program presents an opportunity to attain additional skills. An interest in working with metal is recommended. For IET Career Pathway students, the HS/HSED/GED credential isn't required. Show More

The Welding certificate focuses on SMAW and GTAW processes. The Welding technical diploma focuses on GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, FCAW and prepares students for jobs in manufacturing or construction. The Advanced Metal Fabrication technical diploma focuses on fabricating and welding using pre brake rollers, laser plasma cutters, and fixturing. The Advanced Metal Fabrication students produce projects using GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, and FCAW. The Welding Technology AAS degree prepares students to become certified welding inspectors or programing robotic arc welding.
